Authorities capture suspect in Augusta rape, aggravated assault

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is no longer searching for a man wanted for rape and aggravated assault.
25-year-old killed at apartments in crime-troubled Fox Trace area off Wrightsboro Road
One person is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex off Wrightsboro Road in a neighborhood that’s historically been troubled with violent crime.
Leland Candidate, 46, was wanted for rape and aggravated assault for an incident that occurred last week in the 400 block of Greene Street.
But the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said Monday he’d been taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Task Force at 4 p.m. in Columbia, S.C.
