Ga. man accused of trying to abduct woman with crossbow
TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. - Deputies said a north Georgia man was arrested after he allegedly tried to abduct a woman using a crossbow on Memorial Day.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jack Thomas Harkins, 34, of Tiger, on an aggravated assault charge Thursday, according to deputies.
Deputies said Harkins allegedly approached a woman who was walking her dog on Bear Gap Road near Minnehaha Falls on Monday morning.
Harkins is accused of then pointing a crossbow at the woman and ordering her into his truck. The woman instead ran away and called 911.
Harkins was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center.

Tray Chaney (Malik “Poot” Carr on HBO’s “The Wire”) said his son is in the intensive care unit and their Georgia home is destroyed after a tornado.

Deputies said the Lake Rabun Homeowners group and the Lake Rabun Association posted warnings to the community about the incident soon after it happened.
In a statement, deputies said Sheriff Mark Gerrells “extends his gratitude to the concerned citizens that helped bring a successful resolution to this investigation.”
