Thousands without power as storms plow through the CSRA

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Thousands of residents across the CSRA were without power Friday as storms move through the region.

According to the Georgia Power outage map, there are 3,147 customers in Richmond County without power.

In Columbia County, 581 outages were reported as of 5:40 p.m.

Snake season in CSRA

Across the river, Dominion Energy reports a total of 2,046 customers without power.

Aiken County dispatch reports trees down at the following roads:

  • CCC and Storm Branch Road
  • Wire Road and Kedron Road
  • Martintown Road
  • Jefferson Davis Highway and Revco,
  • Thompson Avenue and Seminole Drive

According to NOAA, there has been a public report of 1 to 1.5 inch hail for about four minutes in Burnettown.

Augusta Riverwalk officially reopened to public

The Augusta Parks and Recreation Department has announced the Ed McIntyre Riverwalk is now officially reopened to the public following recent debris removal efforts from Hurricane Helene.

A line of storms will move in from the northeast around 2 p.m. and exit along the coast around 7 p.m.

News 12′s First Alert Meteorologist Emily Acton says strong wind gusts, hail and isolated tornadoes are possible. The biggest threat for this system will be strong straight-line winds.
