WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Elon Musk promises the work of DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency, is just getting starting, even as he departs a daily role with the Trump istration.

Musk’s brainchild, DOGE, has been deeply controversial, slashing government spending and programs and yet failing to fulfill the promises of truly huge cuts.

During a press interaction in the Oval Office on his final day, Musk itted, “It’s mostly just a lot of hard work.”

Elon Musk’s 134-day detail to the federal government is over, with the billionaire indicating, following through on his promise to chainsaw $2 trillion dollars in waste and fraud out of the federal budget is a lot harder than holding a chainsaw overhead.

Most analysis finds DOGE, the department of government efficiency, at most cut mere billions in federal spending. That’s effectively pennies when the federal government is quickly approaching $7 trillion annually in spending.

But President Trump remains grateful and sees a future for the other DOGE employees

“Almost all of them are staying and they’re going to be with us. And you’re going to see the results coming long into the future. Even a year and two years later, you’re going to see a lot of the results in those hundreds of billions of dollars. They’re going to be adding up and they’re going to continue to add. It’ll be really interesting to see what the final number is going to be. But again, Elon gave an incredible service. Nobody like him. And, he had to go through, the slings and the arrows, which is a shame because, he’s an incredible patriot. The good news is that 90% of the country knows that, and they appreciate it.”

Polls find Musk’s popularity has plummeted as agencies such as AmeriCorps, JobCorps and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have been gutted.

Sporting a black eye due to a punch from one of his many children, according to Musk, he also itted bringing change to the federal government is nearly as hard as space travel.

“It’s a tough call. But I think colonizing Mars and making life multi-planetary is harder. And as I said, we do the dirt like we do expect to achieve over time the trillon dollars in savings. We’ve had to do it in like a few months. But if you say, why the I think the official end of Doge is the president may choose to extend is the middle of next year saved by the middle of next year with the of the President and Congress, could we achieve, one trillion dollars of savings? I think so we’re on track to do so.”

Musk has promised to continue to consult with President Donald Trump, but he’s returning to prioritize the day-to-day operations of his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX

President Trump continues to try to remake all aspects of the federal government and allied agencies, including firing the head of the National Portrait Gallery, part of the Smithsonian Institution, Kim Sajet.
