More Than Sweets Cafe brings Latin flavor to your Southern favorites
WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A little off the beaten path in Waynesboro, there’s a brand new business that does a little bit of everything.
Breakfast, lunch, ice cream and pastries, and it’s run by a group of very close sisters.
They say don’t mix business and family, but at More Than Sweets Cafe, business is family.
“We grew up, my mom having her business and my dad having his business,” said Mayra Lindqyst, owner of More Than Sweets Cafe. “It’s something that doesn’t bother us at all. We grew up that way. It’s in our blood.”
‘We love this community’: Family opens new sandwich shop in North Augusta
Carolina Hills Sandwich and Sweet Shoppe is a new sandwich shop that has opened in North Augusta. The business is also family run.

Lindqyst opened the business, and her mom and sisters do a lot of the day-to-day.
“If you’re good at this, you do that. If you’re good at this, you do this. So we divide and conquer,” said Lindqyst.
Together, they’re good at a lot of things, which helped them create a unique shop with a little something for everyone.
“I said let’s do a bakery, and I want ice cream because a bakery and ice cream always go really good. And then they had the hot bar and stuff like that, so I said, well, you know what, let’s do the hot bar,” she said.
They’ve got fan favorites, southern comfort food and donuts.
But since they’re from Puerto Rico, they’ve put their own spin on things, too.
Sugar Babes Bakery in Lincolnton looks to satisfy every sweet tooth
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, there’s a new bakery in Lincoln County that has exactly what you’re looking for. Sugar Babes was opened by Melissa Norman and her son, Tripp.
“They have quesitos, they have tres leches, they have the flan,” said Lindqyst. “When we cook the pork and stuff like that, we cook it Puerto Rican style normally. We do the white rice and the Puerto Rican beans, just trying to get that culture in there.”
So whether you’ve got a big appetite or a little sweet tooth, you can find it here, amongst family.
You can find them on Hancock Landing Road in Waynesboro, Tuesday through Sunday.
