Aiken bust yields enough fentanyl to kill all of Augusta

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken County deputies on Thursday served a search warrant that turned up enough fentanyl to kill the entire population of Augusta.

The search warrant was executed at a home on Kousa Lane Southwest in Aiken, according to deputies.

As a result, almost 400 grams of fentanyl, multiple pills and marijuana were seized, according to deputies. In addition to the drugs, multiple firearms, some of them stolen, and over $13,000 was also seized.

According to experts, 2 mg of fentanyl is a lethal dose. With 400 grams containing 400,000 milligrams, the seized fentanyl could kill 200,000 people – the population of Augusta.

Investigators arrested and charged 34-year-old Robert Anthony Jackson of Aiken with trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in methamphetamine or cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute near a school, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this case by the U.S. Drug Enforcement istration.
