COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Two people have been arrested in a shooting that left an 18-year-old dead and three others injured at a South Carolina Airbnb on Friday.

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said a 15-year-old was arrested Friday night and is charged with kidnapping, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by person under the age of 18.

18-year-old Latrell Hughey was arrested Saturday morning and has been charged with murder, armed robbery, three counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and criminal conspiracy.

The Columbia Police Department said a call for shots fired came in at around 5:15 a.m. 2400 block of Lincoln Street in the Elmwood Park neighborhood.

The shooting was said to be at home, being used as an Airbnb amid a gathering of “young adults.”

Holbrook said an initial call came in from the area about a car break-in and then changed to shots fired. Then, an additional call came in reporting that the shooting was deadly.

Orangeburg County sheriff holding press conference for man wanted for murder

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said 18-year-old Sincere Gibbs is wanted after a March 29 shooting at a party being held at 1175 Five Chop Road in Orangeburg.

According to police, four people were shot, one of whom died from their injuries.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victim as 18-year-old Jayden Cavon Brackins.

The other three victims, a 17-year-old and two 18-year-olds, were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition, according to D.

Chief Holbrook described the scene as a “war zone,” as police arrived to smoke and the smell of gunpowder.

“The level of destruction caused by the gunfire was just indescribable,” Holbrook said.

D says crime scene investigators recovered over 30 shell casings from multiple different weapons, including an assault-style rifle.

They also detained several people who were not injured but present outside and inside the residence during the shooting.

Holbrook said in the press conference that they’ve alerted the owner of the Airbnb of their intent to declare the property a public nuisance.

According to D, they are looking for another 15-year-old as the third suspect with warrants for murder, armed robbery, three counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18.

Police say the shooting remains under investigation, and additional charges and arrests in the case are anticipated.
