Give your input on new $9M roundabout coming to Grovetown
GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A new $9 million road project is coming to a busy part of Grovetown, and the Georgia Department of Transportation wants your input.
State leaders say the multi-part project is designed to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow on Old Wrightsboro Road and Newmantown Road, making the roads safer for those on the sidewalks and in the car.
The area sees a lot of car accidents, and leaders say a big problem is drivers having trouble seeing when they reach the hill on Robinson Avenue.
Will Augusta leaders vote to let Diamond Lakes Park sparkle?
After hearing from residents, Augusta officials met and came back with a proposal and cost breakdown for improvements at Diamond Lakes.

Reports show that from 2017 to 2021, crash and injury rates were higher than the state average, so their plan will also close Newmantown Road.
Then, crews will add a new eastbound right turn lane, allowing drivers to turn right onto Hardy Drive.
Part two is a brand new four-arm roundabout connecting Newmantown Road, Old Berzelia Road, Hardy Drive Southeast and Hardy Drive North.
The funds for the roundabout would come from GDOT’s Transportation Investment Act.
SAFETY ALERT: Experts predict an above-normal hurricane season
With the CSRA still recovering from Helene, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric istration predicts an above-average 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

One woman who didn’t want to share her name with us says this project is more than needed in this area.
“Very important for my safety, walking around, because i see a lot of traffic jams and a lot of people speeding on this road. and so, yeah, i have to watch. i have to, you know, constantly watch for cars who may, you know, jump the curve. even in the other side streets down here, you know, i’ve seen cars jump curves because they’re just not paying attention. >
Even though construction won’t start until around 2027, leaders want to hear from you this week.
They’re leaving the floor open Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the City of Grovetown town hall for all questions and concerns.
