RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- John Clarke and Dr. Lori Myles could not be two more different candidates though their ion for the city is certainly common ground.

"Here's how we say it. Either you're part of the problem or part of the solution. Here was my opportunity to become part of the solution. So that's the reason why I'm running," said Dr. Lori Myles, District 10 Candidate.

"I might be district elected, but I serve the city. I serve the City of Augusta, Richmond County," said John Clarke, District 10 Commission Candidate.

Clarke has been watching commission meetings play out in the first row of the chamber for about three years.

"I think right now budget ability is a large issue. Transparency of course. Infrastructure. And jobs, we've got to create jobs in of the cyber boom," he said.

Dr. Myles is a former teacher and has been active in Augusta politics for years.

"It's time that you have an educator that's been a part of every part of the sector be able to look at everything and be a part of the team."

Clarke says he wants to cut the budget and make it easier for business.

"Right now there's so many processes people have to go through, so much paperwork. A lot of people just give up and go somewhere else, because they don't want to wait."

Dr. Myles says she wants to help make informed decisions for the city and unify the commission.

"I have seen in the community that we just need to be able to come together as a team."

Both candidates who want to better the city and help lead it during this pivotal time.
